About This Whisky
The sherry half of La Maison du Whisky's Monyou pair: a Karuizawa distilled in 1965 and bottled at 50 years old from sherry cask #2372, at 62.3%.
Each bottle came in a handcrafted fabric box inspired by monyou, the Japanese art of pattern printing.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Vanilla, dried fruit, nuts and honey, then a floral note of mignonette.
- Palate: Long, spicy and heady, yet light on its feet for its age.
- Finish: Dried fruit and oak that linger, with a last floral lift.
Serving & Food
Taste it neat in a thin tulip glass at room temperature; a drop of water softens the 62.3%.
Good to Know
What's the style? Poised rather than heavy.

About the Distillery
Daikoku Budoshu founded Karuizawa in 1955 at Miyota in Nagano, and it ran its last spirit in 2000 under Mercian. Number One Drinks bought the remaining casks in 2011, and every bottle of original Karuizawa comes from that stock.
