The Macallan Sherry Oak 40 Year Old 2017 Release is crafted from an intriguing combination of three cask types, a European oak sherry butt, a European oak sherry hogshead and an American oak sherry butt, all seasoned in Jerez, Spain. Bottled at 44% ABV, only 465 bottles were made available worldwide at the end of 2017, with 70 bottles allocated to the US at an RRP of US$9,000. It is the third non-vintage 40-year-old expression The Macallan has released in its history, selected under master whisky maker Bob Dalgarno's eye for peak maturity in sherry-seasoned oak.

• Nose: Dried fruits, ginger, cinnamon, polished oak, orange and dark spice.
• Palate: Rich and complex, with raisins, wood spice, chocolate, citrus peel and mature oak depth.
• Finish: Long, warm and elegant, with dried fruit and spice.
