It carries the Diamond name within the Ken's Choice range and is listed as a double oak single barrel, with 238 bottles released at 53.7%. It came out a year ahead of cask 1648 and two years before the first Jazz Instrumental casks.
Tasting Profile

- Palate: Honeyed corn, butterscotch and cinnamon, with a firmer seam of rye-like spice and polished wood.
- Finish: Medium-long and gently drying, with toasted oak, pepper and a last streak of caramel.

About the Distillery
Chichibu, in the hills of Saitama Prefecture, is the distillery Ichiro Akuto opened in 2008 after his family's Hanyu distillery changed hands. It made its name with single malt, but its team is also known for careful cask work, which is why a Tokyo bar owner trusted it with a parcel of American whiskey.
The bar was Ken's Bar in Shinjuku, and its private bottlings carry the Ken's Choice name. Earlier releases from the Chichibu-held Kentucky casks carried names such as Diamond and Copper, before the better-known Jazz Instrumental series. Which Kentucky distillery made the spirit has not been disclosed, although Wild Turkey is often suggested by retailers.
