About This Whisky
This whisky was distilled at The Macallan in 1977 and matured for 33 years. Other decanters from the same Silver Seal series were bottled in 2010 in antique Baccarat pieces dating from the early twentieth century, filled one by one. Baccarat supplied several of these shapes. The certificate that accompanies the decanter records its details, and it comes in its original gift box.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Dried fruit and orange peel, with polished wood, spice and a note of old sherry.
- Palate: Rich and mature, with raisin and cocoa, oak spice and deep Speyside malt.
- Finish: Warming, fading slowly on dried fruit, spice and oak.

About the Distillery
Fine crystal has been part of The Macallan's own story for two decades. Between 2005 and 2016 the distillery released its Six Pillars Collection: six very old whiskies from 50 to 65 years, each in a Lalique crystal decanter and each celebrating one of the principles behind its whisky, from Exceptional Oak Casks to the Peerless Spirit. In 2018 it followed with a 72 year old in a Lalique decanter shaped after the new distillery. Independent bottlers took a similar path with older Macallan, pairing long-aged whisky with antique or hand-cut crystal.
