The Macallan distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid on the Easter Elchies estate in Speyside and has been owned by Edrington since 1999. Its older sherry-led bottlings, including Anniversary Malt-era releases like this one, were matured in oak casks seasoned with sherry at bodegas in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, the tradition that still underpins Macallan's Sherry Oak range today. Beyond the presentation details already noted above, further release-specific documentation from an official source has not been located.
