From the Producer

The Gran Reserva bottlings were made by The Macallan for Asian markets in the 1990s and 2000s, before the current 1824 and Rare Cask ranges existed. They were built on first-fill sherry-seasoned casks at a time when the distillery still put vintage years on the label rather than age tiers. Those vintage-dated Macallans are a closed set now - no more will be made in that style.

• Nose: Raisin, fig, orange peel, old oak, spice and chocolate.
• Palate: Rich and rounded, with fruit cake, toffee, malt, cocoa and sherry-seasoned oak.
• Finish: Long and elegant, with lingering dried fruit, spice and polished oak.
