Macallan 18 Year Sherry Oak 1997 is a mature Speyside single malt from one of Scotland’s best-known luxury whisky houses. This 1997-dated bottle suits buyers who want classic sherry-led Macallan style with older presentation.
From the Producer
The Macallan distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid at Easter Elchies in Speyside and has been owned by Edrington since 1999. Its Sherry Oak range is matured predominantly in sherry-seasoned European oak casks brought from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, and is built on the distillery's small, "curiously small" stills, which concentrate a rich, oily new-make spirit; over a minimum of 18 years that spirit draws dried fruit, spice and natural colour from the wood.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Dried fruit, orange peel, polished oak and warm baking spice.
- Palate: Rich and rounded, with sherried sweetness, raisin, toffee and layered wood spice.
- Finish: Long and smooth, with cocoa, spice and lingering dried-fruit depth.
Best For
Best for Macallan collectors, premium gifting and buyers seeking an older 18-year sherry-led bottling rather than a current general release.
