Longrow takes its name from a lost Campbeltown distillery that once stood next door to Springbank (its old warehouse now houses Springbank's bottling hall). The range was first produced in 1973 to give a peaty, oily component to a blend, using barley that is more heavily peated and double distilled compared with Springbank's own recipe, and it has been a fixture of the distillery's production calendar since the 1990s.
