About This Bottling
The 2011 case holds two bottles each of La Romanée Grand Cru, Échezeaux Grand Cru and Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru Aux Reignots, plus one La Colombière and one Clos du Château. La Romanée is a monopole of about 0.85 hectares, the smallest appellation in France. Aux Reignots climbs the slope directly above it on thin limestone soils. Clos du Château is a small village monopole, and La Colombière an old-vine plot on the flatter ground below the hillside. Cases of this vintage are numbered out of 188.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Red cherry, rose and fine spice, with the Reignots showing a smoky, flinty side and La Romanée more floral and perfumed.
- Palate: Silky and fresh, with the village wines light on their feet and the Grands Crus adding depth and grip.
- Finish: Clean and persistent, longest in La Romanée, with a mineral, faintly saline trace.
Serving & Food
The village wines are open and approachable now; the Grands Crus will keep improving into the 2030s. Serve around 16°C with only a brief decant. Pair with Cantonese roast goose, grilled lamb cutlets or a board of Époisses and Comté.

About the Domaine
The Château de Vosne has been the family seat since 1815. In the nineteenth century the Liger-Belairs owned La Tâche and La Grande Rue as well as La Romanée, but French inheritance rules forced an auction in 1933 and most of the land was sold. Two of the ten children, a priest and his brother, grandfather of today's owner, joined forces to buy back La Romanée, Les Reignots and Les Chaumes.
Those three sites are the heart of the domaine that Comte Louis-Michel rebuilt from 2000. Farming is certified organic and biodynamic, and the range now runs to around fifteen cuvées from Vosne-Romanée, Flagey-Échezeaux, Nuits-Saint-Georges and Vougeot.
