Château Lafite Rothschild bottles and packs its grand vin at the estate in Pauillac, where each case of twelve standard 750mL bottles is shipped in an original wooden case (OWC) marked with the château name, the vintage year and the bottle format. The estate has been owned by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (DBR) since 1868, when Baron James de Rothschild acquired the property, and has held Premier Cru Classé status since the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. This case was supplied for the 2002 vintage, a year that produced a classical, medium-weight Lafite in a more traditional style after the powerful 2000 and 2003 vintages. Original 2002 cases are kept by collectors as presentation pieces for a complete late-1990s / early-2000s Lafite lineup.
