From the Brand

Château Lafite Rothschild is a First Growth (Premier Cru) estate in Pauillac, in the northern Médoc, and one of the four châteaux named Premier Cru in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. The estate has been in the Rothschild family since 1868, when Baron James de Rothschild bought it for 4.4 million francs, and is today led by Saskia de Rothschild, the youngest woman heading a Premier Grand Cru Bordeaux estate. Production runs from around 107 hectares of vines on the gravel plateau, with the grand vin accounting for between 15,000 and 25,000 of the roughly 35,000 cases produced annually; the balance is released as the second wine, Carruades de Lafite. Original Wooden Cases shipped with each release of the grand vin carry the château's branding and the relevant vintage marking.
