Krug Grande Cuvée 171ème Édition was composed around the harvest of 2015 and brings together 131 wines from 12 different years, with reserve wines contributing much of the breadth and roundness that define the house style. This presentation adds the gift-box presentation for the 750ml bottle.
From the Producer
Krug ferments every plot separately in small oak casks and keeps a library of reserve wines going back more than a decade - the raw material for Grande Cuvee, which is rebuilt from scratch every single year rather than produced to a fixed recipe. Krug began numbering the editions so that buyers could see each release is a different blend: the 171st is built around the 2015 harvest, drawing 131 wines from twelve vintages, and is held several years on its lees before release.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Flowers in bloom, ripe, dried and citrus fruits, with marzipan and gingerbread.
- Palate: Layered and ample, with quince, lemon, limoncello, almond paste and dried-fruit depth carried by fine bubbles.
- Finish: Long, broad and polished, with richness balanced by freshness and structure.
Best For
Prestige Champagne gifting, celebratory service and tables that want a broad, multi-layered Krug style rather than a simpler aperitif expression.
