Krug 2008 is the House's expression of the 2008 vintage — nicknamed "Classic Beauty" — from one of Champagne's coolest vintages in 14 years and least sunny in almost half a century.
From the Producer
Krug was founded in Reims in 1843 by Joseph Krug, who set out to make the finest Champagne each year regardless of climate. Every Krug cuvée is built from a library of more than 400 reserve wines, with each base wine fermented separately in 205-litre old oak barrels. Krug 2008 — "Classic Beauty" — comes from a notoriously cool, low-sunshine year and is composed of 53% Pinot Noir, 25% Meunier and 22% Chardonnay. After many years on the lees in Krug's cellars, the wine is bottled at 12.5% ABV. The 2008 vintage is regarded by the House as a study in patience and precision, balancing structure and finesse in a Krug that collectors and sommeliers alike treat as one of the modern reference points for the brand.
