Krug Vintage 1998 is Maison Krug’s expression of the character of a single Champagne year. Krug describes the 1998 vintage as “A Tribute to Chardonnay, ” built around 46% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 19% Meunier, with notable texture, depth, freshness and maturity.
From the Producer
Krug ferments every plot separately in small oak casks and keeps a deep library of reserve wines, but a Vintage release uses none of them. It is one year standing on its own, made only when the house judges that the harvest has something of its own to say. The 1998 spent well over a decade in the Krug cellars before release, with Chardonnay set at the centre of the blend.
