Kongsgaard Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 is a collectible Napa Valley red with the depth and polish expected from this highly regarded producer. Accessible market references report the vintage as an 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot blend, pointing to a structured but refined California profile for serious buyers.
From the Producer
Kongsgaard is a small, family-run Napa Valley estate founded in 1996 by fifth-generation Napa natives John and Maggy Kongsgaard, based on the eastern rim of Napa Valley near Atlas Peak. The house is best known for its Chardonnay program (including the flagship Judge bottling), but also produces a small amount of Bordeaux-variety red wine, drawing on the same low-yield, detail-driven winemaking the estate applies across its range.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Cassis, plum, chocolate-covered cherry, tobacco, pencil shavings and subtle floral lift.
- Palate: Medium- to full-bodied, with dark fruit concentration, fine-grained tannins and earthy depth.
- Finish: Long and composed, with lingering black fruit, spice and savoury structure.
Best For
Napa collectors, steakhouse dinners, premium gifting and buyers building age-worthy California red holdings.
