About the Distillery
Kavalan is the whisky arm of Taiwan's King Car Group, a Taiwanese food and drinks company. The distillery stands at Yuanshan in Yilan County, in the north-east of the island. The name comes from the Kavalan people, the island's indigenous inhabitants of the Yilan plain. From the start the company set out to make single malt to Scottish methods but in a very different climate, with copper pot stills, malted barley and long maturation in a wide range of casks.
