About This Whisky
A 1975 Karuizawa from sherry butt #6736, bottled in June 2010 for La Maison du Whisky at 61.8%, with 581 bottles.
It was among the first single casks bottled after the closure.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Old sherry and furniture polish, with leather, dry tobacco, dried plum and a hint of balsamic.
- Palate: Big and warming.
- Finish: Long and spicy, with dried red fruit and old oak.
Serving & Food
Try it neat first at cellar temperature, with Iberian ham or walnut bread.

About the Distillery
Karuizawa, built in 1955 below Mount Asama, last distilled in 2000, and Kirin took over its owner Mercian in 2006. Number One Drinks bought the remaining casks in 2011 and bottled them one by one.
