From the Producer
Karuizawa distilled at the foot of Mount Asama in Nagano from 1955 until production stopped in 2000, and the site was dismantled in 2016. It worked on a very small scale, using imported Golden Promise barley and maturing almost everything in sherry casks, which gives the whisky its dark, concentrated house style. Only a few hundred casks survived, and once they were bottled there was no more. The Geisha Label series was among the single-cask releases drawn from that remaining stock. This is cask #3186, a sherry butt distilled in 1984 and bottled in 2012 at 28 years old, 58.0% ABV, with a reported outturn of 540 bottles for the Taiwan market.
