Juliusspital Würzburger Stein Silvaner BA #83 1989 375mL is a mature Beerenauslese sweet wine from the Würzburger Stein vineyard in Franken, bottled at 375mL by the Stiftung Juliusspital Würzburg from the 1989 vintage.

From the Producer

Stiftung Juliusspital is a charitable foundation in Würzburg established in 1576 by Prince-Bishop Julius Echter von Mespelbrunn, and its wine estate is one of the largest and oldest in Franken. The house is closely associated with Silvaner, the signature grape of the region. The Würzburger Stein is a historic shell-limestone vineyard overlooking the Main river and is regarded as one of Franken's defining sites for Silvaner. Beerenauslese designates a sweet Prädikat wine made from individually selected, botrytis-affected berries, requiring careful hand-picking in the autumn.

Tasting Profile

  • Nose: Honey, dried apricot, candied citrus, wax and mature mineral notes.
  • Palate: Lusciously sweet yet controlled, with preserved stone-fruit richness, gentle botrytis depth and bright acidity keeping the wine lifted.
  • Finish: Long and layered, with honeyed fruit, spice and a persistent stony edge.

Best For

Dessert pairings, after-dinner service and collectors looking for mature German sweet wine in a practical 375mL format.
