The Marquis de Laguiche parcel is the largest single holding in Le Montrachet, and Maison Joseph Drouhin has made its wine since 1947. The 1990 comes from a warm, ripe vintage and is now a fully mature Grand Cru white.
About This Wine
The Laguiche family has owned this parcel since 1776. At 2.06 hectares it is the largest in Le Montrachet, and it lies entirely on the Puligny-Montrachet side of the vineyard, on a gentle slope facing south-east. 1990 was a hot, ripe year across Burgundy, giving whites of generous weight. More than three decades on, expect the fruit to have turned to honey, nuts and truffle, held together by the grip and length that Montrachet is known for.

- Nose: Honey, candied citrus, toasted hazelnut, brioche and a truffle note.
- Palate: Deep and layered, with rich Chardonnay texture, broad minerality and mature complexity.
- Finish: Very long, nutty and savoury, with a saline edge.

About the Domaine
Joseph Drouhin founded his house in Beaune in 1880, and the family still runs it, now in its fourth generation, with Véronique Drouhin in charge of winemaking. Alongside its own vineyards in Chablis, the Côte de Nuits, the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise, Drouhin looks after a few family holdings for other owners, the most famous being the Laguiche Montrachet.
The link goes back to a meeting between Maurice Drouhin and the Marquis de Laguiche during the Second World War. Since 1947 Drouhin has farmed the vines, made the wine and sold it under the Laguiche name.
