Jim Beam is the Kentucky bourbon house run by seven generations of the Beam family since 1795, and is today owned by Suntory Global Spirits. Jim Beam Black is the brand's extra-aged expression, matured for seven years and bottled at 45% ABV (90 proof) — longer in the barrel and higher in proof than the standard Jim Beam White Label, and made on the same corn-led mash bill and jug yeast strain the family has used since Prohibition ended. • Nose: Caramel, vanilla and charred oak, deeper and darker than the White Label.
• Palate: Sweet corn and brown sugar with the extra oak showing as toffee and light spice; the higher proof gives it more weight.
