Ichiro's Malt is produced by Venture Whisky Ltd., founded in 2004 by Ichiro Akuto to commercialise the remaining cask stock of the Hanyu Distillery, which had belonged to his family's company, Toa Shuzo Co., Ltd., until its sale that year. The Card Series bottles single casks from that closed distillery's surviving stock under playing-card labels, one card per cask, making each release a fixed, non-repeatable batch.
