Highland Park was founded in 1798 at Kirkwall on Orkney and still runs its own floor maltings, drying part of its barley over peat cut by hand from Hobbister Moor - Orkney peat is heather and moss rather than forest, which is why the smoke is aromatic rather than medicinal. Thor was the first of the four-release Valhalla Collection, each named for a Norse god and built around Orkney's Viking history. It was bottled at 52.1% with a reported outturn of 23,000 bottles.

- Nose: Heather honey, orange peel, soft peat smoke, spice and polished oak
- Palate: Rich and warming, with malt sweetness, smoky citrus, dried fruit and peppery oak spice
