Highland Park's Vintage Series releases single casks or small cask parcels laid down in a specific year and bottled decades later as limited, individually numbered editions. For releases from the 1990 vintage, the distillery's whisky makers have selected a small number of casks — a mix of European and American oak, largely ex-sherry-seasoned — chosen for the depth, elegance and balance they bring after more than three decades of maturation on Orkney. The resulting whisky carries Highland Park's house character of heather honey sweetness, ripe fruit, warming spice and gentle peat smoke, refined by long cask ageing.
