Highland Park 18 Year Single Cask #4089 700mL Hong Kong Skyline is an 18-year-old single malt Scotch from cask number 4089, bottled as part of Highland Park's Hong Kong Skyline travel-exclusive series. Highland Park is the northernmost single malt Scotch whisky distillery in Scotland, located in Kirkwall on the Orkney Islands.
From the Producer
Highland Park distillery was founded in 1798 by Magnus Eunson on a site in Kirkwall previously used for illicit distillation, and it received its official licence in 1826; the name refers to a local area called High Park, not the Scottish Highlands. The distillery was sold to James Grant & Sons of Glasgow in 1937 and was purchased by The Edrington Group in 1979. According to Highland Park, the whisky is produced using locally cut Orkney peat that contains a higher proportion of heather than many other peats, and it is matured predominantly in sherry-seasoned casks of American or European oak purchased from Oloroso sherry producers in Spain. Highland Park's travel-exclusive range includes age-statement and cask-led bottlings sold only through duty-free and travel retail channels, of which the Hong Kong Skyline series is an example.
