High Coast Cinco II is a Swedish single malt whisky from High Coast Distillery (formerly Mackmyra), matured in five different sherry cask types in this second "Cinco" release.
From the Producer
High Coast Distillery sits on the banks of the river Ångermanälven in Sweden's High Coast region. Cinco — Spanish for "five" — is High Coast's small-batch sherry-cask release built around five different sherry cask types: Fino, Amontillado, Palo Cortado, Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez. In Cinco II, the casks were laid down in 2014 and the whisky was bottled in 2023, with 12 of the 18 casks made from Spanish oak and the remainder from American oak to balance the spice. The release was limited to 5,355 bottles. Bottled at 51.1% ABV without chill-filtration, Cinco II leans into the kind of dense, multi-layered sherry character — dried fruit, spice, cocoa, coffee — that has become High Coast's signature style.
Tasting Notes
Nose — Rich dried fruit, layered sherry sweetness, coffee, cocoa nibs and warm autumnal spice with gentle earthy depth.
Palate — Full-bodied and rich, with white and demerara sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, mixed nuts and dried-and-fresh fruit layered together.
Finish — Long, sherried and warming, with spice and a controlled oak grip.
Best For
Best suited to sherry-cask single malt enthusiasts, after-dinner pours and collectors following the limited High Coast releases. A drop of water opens the layers.
