Hibiki 35 Year by Tokuda Yasokichi III is a collector-focused age-statement Hibiki presented as an artist edition, pairing one of Suntory's most prestigious mature blends with a decorative bottle created around Japanese craftsmanship. It is aimed far more at collectors, gifting and display-led buying than routine pouring.
From the Producer
Hibiki was launched by Suntory in 1989 for the company's 90th anniversary and is blended from malt and grain whiskies matured at the Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries. This 35 Year artist edition is presented in a bottle created around the Kutani ware tradition of Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. Tokuda Yasokichi III (1933–2009) was designated a Living National Treasure for his enamel work in the ao-de ko-Kutani style, one of Kutani porcelain's historic decorating techniques, and the edition's presentation reflects that recognised craft.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Mature orchard fruit, polished oak and refined incense-like sweetness in a style consistent with long-aged Hibiki releases.
- Palate: Silky, composed and layered, with mature wood spice and a calm blended-whisky texture.
- Finish: Long and elegant, fading with soft oak, sweetness and mature balance.
Best For
High-end gifting, Japanese-whisky collectors and buyers who place equal value on rare presentation and mature age statement.
