About This Whisky
Suntory put Hibiki 30 Year Old into this kinuta-shaped Arita porcelain decanter, glazed deep purple-blue with the characters for 'water of life' raised in relief.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Prune, sultana and roasted chestnut, over leather and beeswax.
- Palate: Deep and rounded, with fig jam, brown sugar, cedar and gingerbread spice.
- Finish: Very long and warming, with cinnamon and the incense of old Japanese oak.
Serving & Food
Save it for a proper occasion. Good company: roast duck with plum sauce, aged Parmigiano, or a slice of dark fruit cake.

What is the kinuta form? A shape named after the block used for fulling cloth.
What's on it? A purple-navy glaze with an embossed 'water of life' motif.

About the Distillery
Shinjiro Torii founded Suntory in Osaka in 1899, and it added the 30 Year Old to Hibiki in 1997. Its Special Bottle Collection began in 2001, with one Arita and one Kutani decanter in most years.
