Hibiki 21 Year is one of the benchmark age-stated Japanese whiskies, valued for the harmony and polish that define the House of Suntory style and for the increasingly limited availability of mature Hibiki bottlings.
From the Producer
Launched in 1989 to mark the 90th anniversary of the House of Suntory, Hibiki is the house's flagship blended whisky and the name means "resonance" or "harmony" in Japanese — a reference to the way malt and grain components are blended to complement rather than compete. Hibiki 21 Year is composed of malt and grain whiskies from Suntory's Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita distilleries, matured for at least 21 years in a mix of American white oak, Spanish sherry oak and the rare Mizunara Japanese oak casks, then married and bottled at 43% ABV.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Sandalwood, ripe fruit, honey, incense and gentle oak.
- Palate: Silky and composed, with dried fruit, sweet spice, soft malt and layered oak in the elegant blended style for which Hibiki is best known.
- Finish: Long, graceful and aromatic, carrying sweetness, spice and polished wood.
Best For
Luxury gifting, celebratory pours and collectors who want a flagship mature Japanese whisky with strong recognition and resale relevance.
