About This Whisky
Suntory launched Hibiki 12 Year Old in 2009 and withdrew it in 2015; this bottle is the 750mL size made for the American market.
Hibiki 12 brought together more than 30 malt and grain whiskies, with malts of at least 12 years from Yamazaki and Hakushu and grain whisky from Chita.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Plum, pineapple and honey, with vanilla custard and a little orange peel.
- Palate: Soft and velvety, with stone fruit, gentle spice, butterscotch and light oak.
- Finish: Medium to long, with lingering sweetness and a touch of cinnamon.
Serving & Food
Try it neat or over one large ice cube, with plum-glazed pork, yakitori with tare, or an almond tart.
Good to Know
What's special about it? Malt finished in umeshu casks gives a soft, fruity sweetness.
Is it still made? No. It was replaced by Hibiki Harmony.

Shinjiro Torii founded Suntory in Osaka in 1899, and the company launched Hibiki in 1989 for its 90th year. Its malt comes from Yamazaki, which Torii opened in 1923.
