Hennessy 250 Collector Blend was made for the house's 250th anniversary in 2015 and bottled in a one-litre crystal decanter. It is a mature, rounded blend with a strict production limit of 250 barrels.
About This Spirit
Yann Fillioux, master blender at the time, spent four years preparing the 250 Collector Blend with the tasting committee. Eaux-de-vie that had already aged for at least a decade were filled into 250 new handmade Limousin oak barrels of 250 litres each, commissioned for the project, and matured further before blending. Reports put the age range of the components at roughly 15 to 35 years. The crystal decanter was designed by Stéphanie Balini, and the cognac is bottled at 40% ABV.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Dried apricot, candied orange and vanilla, with cinnamon and polished oak.
- Palate: Round and full, with caramel, stewed fruit and spice, and oak kept in check.
- Finish: Long and warm, with sweet spice and a gentle nutty dryness.
Serving & Food
Serve at room temperature, around 18 to 20°C, in a tulip-shaped glass and let it breathe briefly. A drop of water brings up the fruit. After dinner, pair with dark chocolate, walnuts or a slice of aged Mimolette.

About the Distillery
Richard Hennessy, an Irish officer who had served in the French army, founded the house in Cognac in 1765. Blending is shared by a family partnership: the Fillioux family has provided Hennessy's master blenders since Jean Fillioux was appointed in 1800, and today Renaud Fillioux de Gironde, the eighth generation, holds the role. A tasting committee meets daily to assess eaux-de-vie. Hennessy is part of LVMH through Moët Hennessy.
