Hakushu Sherry Cask 2014 700mL is a limited Japanese single malt from Suntory's Hakushu distillery, drawn from European oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 48% ABV (96 proof). The 2014 release pushes Hakushu toward darker dried-fruit and oak-spice territory while keeping the distillery's trademark freshness in the background.
From the Producer
Hakushu is Suntory's highland distillery at the foot of Mount Kaikomagatake in the Southern Japanese Alps, established in 1973 as the second malt whisky distillery of House of Suntory. Hakushu's house style is built around local soft water, forest-floor botanicals, and tall pot stills that produce a lighter, greener spirit than sister distillery Yamazaki. The Sherry Cask series is Suntory's way of presenting Hakushu matured fully or partially in European oloroso sherry casks, typically bottled at cask strength to preserve cask character. The 2014 vintage is a single-cask-style sherry-cask release, prized for richer dried-fruit and oak-spice notes layered over Hakushu's forest-fresh base.
