Hakushu Sherry Cask 2013 700mL is a limited Japanese single malt from Suntory's Hakushu distillery, released as part of Suntory's annual single-cask-style sherry-cask series, bottled at 48% ABV. It marries Hakushu's signature herbal freshness with deeper sherry-cask influence.
From the Producer
Hakushu is Suntory's highland distillery at the foot of Mount Kaikomagatake in the Southern Japanese Alps, established in 1973 as the second malt whisky distillery of House of Suntory. Hakushu's house style is built around local soft water, forest-floor botanicals, and relatively tall pot stills that produce a lighter, greener spirit than Yamazaki. The Sherry Cask releases are drawn from Hakushu's limited stock of European oloroso sherry casks, typically matured in those casks for the latter part of their long maturation and bottled at cask strength. The 2013 vintage is one of these scarce cask-driven releases, prized by collectors for combining sherry richness with Hakushu's trademark freshness.
