Four Roses Small Batch Select is a non-chill filtered blend of six of the distillery's ten recipes, bottled at 104 proof. Launched in April 2019, it was the first permanent addition to the Four Roses range in 12 years.
About This Bourbon
Master distiller Brent Elliott built it from OBSV, OBSK, OBSF, OESV, OESK and OESF, bourbons aged six to seven years. Leaving out the O and Q yeasts moves it away from the rich fruit of the regular Small Batch towards spice and mint, and skipping chill filtration keeps a fuller texture.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Raspberries, cloves and nutmeg.
- Palate: Apricot, berries, vanilla and light oak.
- Finish: Lingering spearmint with light cinnamon.
Serving & Food
Serve it neat or on one large ice cube in a rocks glass; at 52% it also stands up well in an Old Fashioned. Spiced lamb skewers bring out the clove.
How to Enjoy
An everyday bottle with more strength and texture than the standard Small Batch, good neat or mixed.
