1792 Bottled In Bond 750mL

HKD 0.00
Category: Bourbon

1792 Bottled in Bond is the 100 proof version of Barton 1792's high-rye Kentucky straight bourbon. It follows the rules of the 1897 Bottled-in-Bond Act, so it is one distillery's whiskey from one season, aged at least four years under bond.

About This Bourbon

To carry the bonded label a whiskey must come from one distiller at one distillery during a single six-month distilling season, spend at least four years in a federally supervised warehouse and be bottled at exactly 100 proof. Barton makes this one from the same high-rye recipe as its Small Batch, with rye as the second grain in a larger share than most bourbons, matured in new charred American oak in its Bardstown warehouses. The extra strength gives more weight and spice than the 93.7 proof Small Batch.

Tasting Profile

  • Nose: Caramel and vanilla with rye pepper, mint and toasted oak.
  • Palate: Firm and full, with brown sugar, cinnamon and orange peel over a dry rye backbone.
  • Finish: Medium in length, warming spice and oak, closing clean and dry.

Serving & Food

Pour it neat into a Glencairn, or over a large cube if you prefer it cooler. The 100 proof holds its shape in a Manhattan. Hickory-smoked pulled pork is a good partner, as the rye spice cuts the fat.

How to Enjoy

A bonded bourbon for mixing strong stirred drinks or sipping neat at full strength.

About the Distillery

Barton 1792 has distilled in Bardstown, Nelson County, since 1879, and uses water from the Tom Moore Spring on the site. Its whiskey runs through column stills and a copper doubler before going into new charred oak for maturing in the distillery's rickhouses.

The 1792 name marks the year Kentucky became a state. The distillery belongs to the Sazerac Company, and under master distiller Ross Cornelissen the 1792 range has grown to include cask finishes, a straight rye and the 15 year old XV.
