From the Producer

Karuizawa's 1960s casks are the oldest stock the distillery ever had, and very few were left by the time bottling began in earnest. Most Karuizawa went into sherry wood, so a bourbon cask from this era is unusual in itself and shows a different side of the distillery character - lighter and more fruit-driven than the heavy sherried style it is known for. This is cask #8636, distilled in 1965 and bottled at 50 years old at 62.6% ABV, in 700mL.

• Nose: Toasted oak, mature orchard fruit, dried citrus peel and polished antique wood.
• Palate: Layered bourbon-cask sweetness with vanilla, roasted nuts, dark fruit and refined spice.
