Jacques Selosse Brut Rosé 2020 is a sought-after grower Champagne with the domaine's trademark vinous intensity and artisanal identity. It appeals strongly to buyers who want a rosé Champagne with cult-producer status.
From the Producer
Jacques Selosse is based in Avize and has been run since 1974 by Anselme Selosse, who trained in Burgundy and brought a grower's winemaking approach back to Champagne at a time when almost nobody there was doing it. He farms his parcels organically, ferments in oak barrels with indigenous yeasts, uses very low dosage and bottles without fining or filtration. The result tastes more like a fine white wine with bubbles than a conventional house Champagne. Production is small and distribution is by strict allocation, which is why Selosse bottles are difficult to find at any price. The Brut Rose is made in the smallest volume of the range.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Wild strawberry, citrus peel, spice and lightly oxidative pastry notes.
- Palate: Textured and vinous, with red fruit, chalky freshness and savoury depth.
