Château Lafite Rothschild is a First Growth (Premier Cru) estate in Pauillac, in the northern Médoc, owned by the Rothschild family since Baron James de Rothschild bought it in 1868. In the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, Lafite was one of four châteaux named Premier Cru and has held that rank continuously; Mouton Rothschild is the only estate ever added to that tier, in 1973. The estate is currently led by Saskia de Rothschild, the youngest woman heading a Premier Grand Cru Bordeaux estate.
