Lafite 1970 3L OWC - Empty Wood Case is the original wooden shipping case (OWC) supplied by the producer for a six-bottle or larger format of the same vintage. As an empty case it carries no liquid and is sold as an accessory or storage piece.
From the Producer
Château Lafite Rothschild is a Pauillac estate in Bordeaux's Médoc, rated a First Growth (Premier Cru) under the 1855 Bordeaux Classification and in Rothschild family ownership since Baron James Mayer Rothschild purchased the property in 1868. The 107-hectare vineyard is planted mostly to Cabernet Sauvignon (around 70%) alongside Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and the wine is typically blended from roughly 80–95% Cabernet Sauvignon with the balance made up from those other varieties; about a third of the property's output is released separately as the second wine, Carruades de Lafite. Large-format bottlings such as this 1970 vintage are shipped from the estate in a producer-branded original wooden case (OWC), which collectors often keep and display separately from the bottle itself.
Best For
Best suited to collectors, gift-givers and home-service use where a small barware accessory complements the main bottle. It does not contain beverage product and is sold empty.
