Signatory Vintage Bowmore cask #2013 1974 is a rare independent bottling from one of Islay’s most collectable distilleries. Old 1970s Bowmore is prized for combining coastal peat with tropical-fruit depth
From the Producer
Signatory Vintage was set up in 1988 by Andrew and Brian Symington, who buy single casks from distilleries across Scotland and bottle them without blending, colouring or, in the vintage range, heavy filtration. The house later bought Edradour and moved its bottling hall to Pitlochry. This cask was filled at Bowmore in 1974, in the decade Islay drinkers hold above all others for that distillery, when the spirit developed its famous tropical-fruit character over long maturation.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Tropical fruit, citrus oil, peat smoke, sea air, wax and old oak
- Palate: Complex and mature, with pineapple-like fruit, brine, smoke, spice, malt and polished wood
- Finish: Very long, coastal and smoky, with lingering fruit and dry oak
Best For
