A 1967 Riesling Beerenauslese from the Erbacher Siegelsberg, made by Schloss Reinhartshausen in the Rheingau.
Siegelsberg is an Erbach site lying close to the river, near the Marcobrunn, on deep soils that give full, ripe Riesling.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Dried apricot, orange marmalade, honey, black tea and a mature petrol note.
- Palate: Sweet and evolved, with dried fruit and caramel carried by lasting Riesling acidity.
- Finish: Long and honeyed, with citrus peel and toffee.
Serving & Food
At nearly sixty years old, this bottle deserves a day upright and, if there is sediment, a slow decant. Aged Gouda, a caramelised apple tart or a simple plate of walnuts will bring out its tea and toffee notes.

About the Estate
Schloss Reinhartshausen stands on the western edge of Erbach, near Eltville, with the Rhine island of Mariannenaue in front of it. The site grew from medieval knightly farms first recorded in 1337.
