Ruinart Blanc de Blancs 1.5L

Ruinart Blanc de Blancs is the flagship cuvée of Maison Ruinart, made entirely from Chardonnay and presented here in 1.5-litre magnum format. It is the established house style of the oldest champagne house in Champagne.

Maison Ruinart is the oldest established champagne house, exclusively producing champagne since 1729. It was founded by Nicolas Irénée Ruinart in Reims following the 1728 edict of Louis XV, which authorised the transport of wine in bottles and made it possible to ship sparkling wine to distant markets. Nicolas Ruinart realised the ambitions of his uncle Dom Thierry Ruinart to turn the family cloth business into an authentic Champagne house, and the first delivery of "wine with bubbles" went out in January 1730. The house has had a long-standing relationship with the arts, beginning with Alphonse Mucha's 1896 poster for the brand. Today Maison Ruinart is part of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton. Its cellars, acquired in 1768, are among the largest in the region: Gallo-Roman in origin, they extend 38 metres below ground and run for 8 km, with chalk keeping the temperature at a constant 11°C. The chalk pits were classified as a historic monument in 1931.

Made entirely from Chardonnay sourced primarily from the Côte des Blancs, Ruinart Blanc de Blancs shows the chalky finesse typical of the best white-Chardonnay champagnes: citrus and orchard-fruit aromas, brioche notes from extended lees ageing, a fine mousse and a clean, sustained finish.
