About This Wine
Les Suchots takes up 13.08 of Vosne-Romanée's 220 hectares of vines and is classed premier cru. It sits on a gentle slope under Les Beaumonts and Aux Brûlées, beside Echezeaux, and its name recalls the stumps left when woodland gave way to vines. The domaine describes its Suchots as supple, silky and consistent across vintages. In 2019 frost in April, uneven flowering and two heatwaves kept yields low; rain in mid-August finished the ripening. Reds were ripe and forward, with plenty of body and fine tannin.

- Nose: Red cherry, raspberry and violet, with tea leaf, clove and a little orange zest.
- Palate: Supple and silky, with layered red fruit, fine tannins and good freshness.
- Finish: Long and poised, with floral lift and spice.
Serving & Food
It is showing well young; give it 30 minutes in a decanter and serve at 15 to 16°C in a Burgundy glass. Drink now to the late 2030s. Good with roast pigeon, beef tataki, or Peking duck.

About the Domaine
Prieuré Roch's range starts with simple Coteaux Bourguignons, which the domaine calls wines to quench a thirst, and climbs through Côte de Beaune reds from Ladoix and Savigny to Nuits-Saint-Georges and Vosne-Romanée premiers crus and two grands crus, Clos de Bèze and Clos de Vougeot.
Three monopoles give the estate much of its identity: the Clos des Corvées and Clos des Varoilles, each about five or six hectares, and the tiny Clos Goillotte in Vosne.
