About This Wine
The Clos des Corvées is a single 5.21-hectare walled block at the entrance to Prémeaux, bounded to the south by the chemin des dalles, an old paved track. It was rebuilt from medieval fragments in the 19th and early 20th centuries and is now owned outright by the domaine. The domaine calls this bottling Vieilles Vignes and makes it from the finest millerandé bunches, the small, uneven berries that give intensity. It describes the wine as powerful and carnal, dense and structured, and very long. 2018 was hot and dry with a big crop, and the reds have deep colour and plenty of fruit.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Black cherry, blackberry and plum, with liquorice, game and stem spice.
- Palate: Full, dense and fleshy, with firm tannins and a savoury, earthy core.
- Finish: Very long, with dark fruit and a trace of iron.
Serving & Food
Decant the magnum for up to two hours and serve at 16 to 17°C. It is approachable now but will keep well into the late 2030s. Try it with venison stew, oxtail braised in red wine, or roast goose.

About the Domaine
Prieuré Roch holds three walled monopoles, which is rare in Burgundy: the Clos des Corvées in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the six-hectare Clos des Varoilles in Gevrey-Chambertin, taken on in 2020, and the tiny Clos Goillotte in Vosne-Romanée.
The domaine is based in Prémeaux-Prissey, the southern tip of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation, right beside the Corvées. It is farmed organically and the reds are vinified as whole bunches without added sulphite.
