Pittyvaich 30 Special Release 2020 is a closed-distillery Speyside single malt bottled as part of Diageo's annual Special Releases. Its age, rarity and the short life of the distillery make it a compelling bottle for collectors seeking whiskies that can no longer be produced
From the Producer
Pittyvaich was built in 1974 beside Dufftown to feed blends, ran for under twenty years, fell silent in 1993 and was demolished in 2002. Nothing new will ever come out of it. Diageo holds the remaining casks and releases them occasionally through the annual Special Releases programme, which is where this 30-year-old bottling comes from, drawn from stock distilled in the distillery's first decade.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Creamy fruit, vanilla and soft oak with elegant sweetness
- Palate: Smooth and layered, showing orchard fruit, malt richness and polished wood spice
- Finish: Long and refined, with gentle vanilla, oak and a creamy fruit echo
