About This Bourbon
Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve 20 Year from 2016 is a twenty-year-old wheated Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled at 90.4 proof from barrels chosen by the Van Winkle family. It is quiet and layered.
Twenty years in new charred oak leaves it dark and tannic, and 90.4 proof rounds that off.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Maple, baked pear, tobacco pouch and clove.
- Palate: Round and gentle, with honeyed caramel, red apple and cedar.
- Finish: Dry and lasting, with oak tannin and fading cinnamon.

About the Distillery
Julian "Pappy" Van Winkle Sr. joined W.L. Weller & Sons in 1893 and opened Stitzel-Weller in 1935. His grandson Julian III built today's range, the family still owns it, and Buffalo Trace has made the whiskey since 2002.
