W.L. Weller was created by the Stitzel-Weller Distilling Company and named for William Larue Weller, credited with first producing a straight bourbon using wheat instead of rye, from 1849. Since 1999 the brand has been owned by the Sazerac Company and produced at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. Old Weller Antique 107 is the brand's historic 107-proof (53.5% ABV) 'red label' expression, and older bottlings under the Original 107 title predate the distillery's current label design.
