W.L. Weller was created by the Stitzel-Weller Distilling Company and named for William Larue Weller, who is credited with first producing a straight bourbon using wheat instead of rye, from 1849. After several ownership changes, the brand has been owned by the Sazerac Company since 1999 and is produced at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. The Old Weller Antique 107 expression is the brand's historic 107-proof 'red label' bottling, and the 4/5 quart format on this bottle points to an older production run predating the now-standard 750mL bottling.
