Old Rip Van Winkle's 25 year bottling is the oldest whiskey the family has released, drawn from a very small number of barrels laid down under family selection and held far beyond normal bourbon maturation. The house runs on a wheated mash bill, which is one reason its whiskey survives extended ageing without going hard and woody. Production has been at Buffalo Trace in Frankfort since the family's 2002 joint venture.
