Old Forester Batch Proof 150th Batch 1 is part of the distillery's anniversary series of limited Kentucky straight bourbons. Public information on the individual batches is thinner than for core releases.
From the Producer
Old Forester was created in 1870 by George Garvin Brown, a Louisville pharmaceutical salesman who was the first to sell bourbon exclusively in sealed glass bottles so the customer knew what was inside - the beginning of what is now Brown-Forman. It is the only bourbon brand sold continuously before, during and after Prohibition. Batch Proof takes a small batch of barrels and bottles it uncut and unfiltered at whatever strength the barrels give; this release marks the brand's 150th anniversary.
Tasting Profile
- Nose: Caramel, oak, vanilla and dark baking spice.
- Palate: Full-bodied and forceful, with dense sweetness, charred oak and warming spice.
- Finish: Long and dry, with pepper, barrel char and lingering brown sugar.
